SCHEDULE An
APPOINTMENT

We’re so glad you’ve chosen to schedule an appointment with The Behavior Vet. We look forward to meeting you!

What to Expect

Prior to your first appointment, you’ll be asked to fill out a behavior history form detailing your pet’s medical history and your concerns about your pet’s behavior. This form is very important as it helps us begin to assess your pet’s behavioral health and identify patterns of behavior. Please complete and return this form to us no later than 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

If you have any photos or videos of the behaviors in question, please submit them to us via email (info@vetbehavior.com) at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Please include your name, your pet’s name, and your appointment date in the email so that we can ensure these files are attached to your pet’s medical record.  PLEASE DO NOT PROVOKE YOUR PET INTO PERFORMING THE BEHAVIOR FOR THE SAKE OF OBTAINING A VIDEO!  While videos are nice to have, they are not necessary to obtain a diagnosis.  We do not want to risk injury or cause your pet undue distress.

On the day of your appointment, you and your pet will spend up to 90 minutes in consultation with Dr. Racine. Please bring your pet to this appointment. You may also bring any family members who are involved in your pet’s care, as it is important for everyone to be on the same page when we are treating a behavior issue. This consultation will include a review of your pet’s behavior history, observations of your pet’s behavior, a physical examination of your pet, and a discussion of your pet’s treatment plan which may include behavior modification, environmental modification, and possibly medication.

Following your appointment, you’ll receive a detailed written summary of your pet’s visit and treatment plan by email within 1-2 business days. A summary of the case will also be sent to your primary care veterinarian at your request.

Follow-Up Appointments

The initial consultation is the first step in your pet’s behavioral health journey. To ensure your pet continues to progress, follow-up care is necessary. A follow-up visit with The Behavior Vet allows us to monitor your pet’s progress and make adjustments to your pet’s treatment plan as needed. Follow-up visits are 40 minute consultations and can be scheduled either in-person or via Zoom.

As with initial consultations, please submit any photos or videos of your pet’s behavior to our email (info@vetbehavior.com) at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled follow-up appointment. Please include your name, your pet’s name, and your appointment date in the email so that we can ensure these files are attached to your pet’s medical record.

Payments

Payment in full is due at the time of appointment booking.  Due to the high demand for our services, we do not provide refunds for missed or canceled appointments.  Payments must be made in full online at the time of scheduling; we do not accept payments on-site.
